Supporting women in the IFA sector: The Women Adviser and Broker Group
The Women Adviser and Broker Group came about because the IFA sector is very male-dominated. Even today, it is believed that only 5% of IFAs are female.
In 2003, a former IFA set up networking groups for females in the sector. Although the meetings were extremely popular, the founder unfortunately left the industry and the events were discontinued in the south, although they continued in the north for a while.
Vivian is passionate that there should be more female IFAs, and decided to set up the WABG so that females in the industry could network with each other. The response and feedback has been overwhelming.
